Frank Catalfumo, opened F&C Shoes in 1945, a shoe repair store in Brooklyn. During the past 70 years the world has changed, everything but his magic touch of giving worn soles a new life. Today he still goes to work five days a week, working with his son Michael as he did at the beginning with his father. His son is the reason, he says, that he’s not retired.
Neighbourhood in those times was very friendly, everybody was friends with each other. There were more than six shoe repair shops and several
grocery stores. And now there’s nothing.
"What would you be doing at home, Dad?” Michael asks. Frank replies, “I’d be fighting with your mother”. Just kidding, of course.
