The studio where Alan Kitching lives and works, it's also probably the biggest collection of block types in Europe. A studio furnished with ink, presses, paper, type, and no computers at all. He came into this business when he was a boy, as an apprentice, whem the letterpress was the only way to print.
How to print in 4 simple steps:
1- Identify Typeface to use
2- Cut the Type out of the card
3- Put the block on the press and color it
4- You are ready for handprinting
The persons who approach for the first time to the press during the workshops, also people not designers, are able after a couple of days to produce a print of all respect. They can use their hands, eyes, touch what they do. During the workshop Alan explores the details and fundamentals of typography. "The course will give each participant an exceptional understanding of typesetting and the art of letterpress printing."
